Calathea roseopicta 'Illustris'
Rose Painted Calathea 'Illustris' (S)
The Rose Painted Calathea is a popular, undemanding, indoor plant with beautiful peacock markings on its leaves with pink edges that turn to white as the plant matures. Native to Brazil, this is part of the Prayer Plant family which will fold its leaves up at night time as if in prayer. It will also bloom in summer with small white flowers.
Keep above 15 degrees in moisture-retaining soil. Mist regularly and wipe leaves with damp cloth and keep in warm conditions such as well lit kitchens and bathrooms. Will tolerate low light but best in medium or bright indirect light. Apply a rich slow release fertiliser every three months for vibrant healthy foliage.
