Monstera deliciosa - Fruit Salad Plant (S)
Monstera deliciosa is one of the world's most popular indoor plants, and there's no stopping her! Desired for its perforated glossy green foliage peppered with distinct holes, giving it the nickname the 'Swiss Cheese Plant', Monstera makes a classic statement in any home. A very large plant which is native to southern Mexico, Guatemala and Panama, Monstera are known to climb up trees in rainforests. In your home, they can do the same with a sturdy trellis for pole to grow upwards and towards the light source. They also can produce an edible fruit when ripe, but beware, the rest of the plant is not edible! A beautiful plant for the garden or indoors, this is a cherished beauty around the world.
Medium indirect light is best for this tropical plant but it can tolerate low light and will grow faster in a brighter space. Too much sun and the leaves will yellow. Keep in a fairly humid environment by misting and watering weekly, keeping topsoil dry between watering. Avoid repotting if worried about rapid growth of this plant.
Water once topsoil is dry, keep soil well drained, mist regularly.
