Peperomia argyreia - Watermelon Peperomia (S)
Peperomia Argyreia, aka the 'Watermelon Peperomia', is a desirable plant native to northern South America. It is a perennial with asymmetrical fleshy, oval green leaves that are strikingly marked with curved silver stripes, bobbing on the end of discrete red petioles (or stems). It looks distinctively like the outside of a watermelon! Watermelon Peperomia is well suited for planting in windowsill containers or hanging baskets around the home. As it matures and grows, you'll be delighted by its beautiful mass of rounded foliage.
Best in bright indirect light but too much light will fade the foliage. Indoors, a window with light exposure provides an ideal spot. Outdoors, grow the plant in light shade or filtered light. Best in humid conditions but watch for stem rot from soggy soil. Water deeply when top soil is dry but allow complete drainage and never stand in water. Does not tolerate cold weather so bring it indoors if night time temperatures likely to drop.
Moderate water, allow soil to dry between watering
