Anthurium andraeanum

Red Anthurium (M)

Also known as the Red Peace Lily, Anthurium are a family of tropical flowering plants with bright coloured heart shaped waxy flowers and leaves flaring out from the base of a fleshy spike. With a myriad of colour variations and flowers that last up to 6-7 weeks, Anthuriums are great to add a pop of colour to your jungle or as a long lasting alternative to a bouquet of cut flowers. Anthuriums are also listed on NASA's air purifying plant list, sucking up ammonia, formaldehyde, toluene and xylene.

Anthuriums require bright indirect light to maximise flowering period but shield from direct sun. Can tolerate lower conditions but will not flower. Allow soil to dry between waterings and be careful not to overwater as this will cause root damage and yellowing leaves. Protect from frost, wipe leaves from dust and provide humid conditions for ideal growth. Keep leaves dry to avoid fungus on the foliage. Prefers to be a little root bound so be careful when repotting.
