Kokedama - Japanese Moss Ball (S)
Kokedama is a Japanese art form derived from the practises of bonsai. An old practise originating back to the Edo era of Japan, it translates into 'Moss Ball'', symbolising a poor man's version of the sophisticated bonsai movement. The roots of selected plants or tree are gathered and sculpted into a mud ball, then layered with soft green moss. This becomes the focal structure point for support. Either hung, or on a platform, enjoy this unique format of building or receiving a Kokedama.
Kokedama survive best under bright indirect light, and misting regularly will contain humid and moisture levels. Once it becomes light to touch, it's time to water. Place your Kokedama in a bowl or bucket according to the size of your plant, and in room temperature water. Add a liquid fertiliser when watering during warmer months, once a month. Position the Moss Ball with plant side facing up, and submerge the moss into the water. Allow the ball to absorb and soak up with the water until it's drenched. Remove the Kokedama from the bowl and gently squeeze out excess water whilst maintaining circular silhouette. Wait for dripping water to subside, and position the plant in its new home. Avoid over-watering and prevent excessive moisture.
