Philodendron hederaceum var. hederaceum
Philodendron 'Micans' - Velvet Leaf Philodendron (S)
Native to Carribean & Mexico, this gorgeous and uncommon form of a heart leaf philodendron is easy to grow and known for its petite, deep green, velvety, heart-shaped leaves. An eager climber, 'Micans' , you can pinch back the stems at any time to help it branch out and become bushier or alternatively, you can let it grow long and lanky. Always pinch after a leaf node (the place where a leaf is attached to the stem). A new stem will grow from that node.
Best in moderate to bright light but will tolerate lower light conditions. Small leaves or long spaces between leaves indicate insufficient light but avoid direct sunlight as it may scorch the plant. Keep the soil lightly moist over the warmer months and allow the surface of the soil to dry out between waterings in winter. Water from the top. Yellow leaves are also caused by overwatering. Maintain humidity by misting regularly. Provide liquid fertiliser during warmer months to encourage growth.
|WATER||Moderate water, allow the soil to dry between watering|
|LIGHT||Indirect Light, Filtered Light, Low Light|
|PLANT SIZE||Grows to 2m|
